History

Asian Business & Community Publishing, Inc. was founded by Nghi Huynh in 1982. The first publication was Asian Business & Community News, a non-profit monthly business news publication with community news for the growing refugee and immigrant Asian groups in Minnesota. The nonprofit organization went on to form other community projects and in 1990 the magazine ceased with the start of Asian American Press, a 15,000 circulation weekly newspaper serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

The weekly print version of Asian American Press ceased publication in October 2014. The online Asian American Press started in 1998 and continues as aapress.com to provide quality news and information to promote diversity and unity among Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and as a bridge publication to communities of color and the mainstream.
