MINNEAPOLIS (March 24, 2017) — Mizna is hosting the acclaimed Palestinian American poet and memoirist Ibtisam Barakat with a reading event Friday, March 31, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Jeanne d’Arc Auditorium of Whitby Hall on the campus of St. Catherine University, 2004 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, 55105. Tickets are $15 or free for students with ID.

Mizna is partnering with Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality to present Ibtisam in a reading and conversation with the wonderful Naomi Shihab Nye, and are offering a number of opportunities for writers to engage with acclaimed Ibtisam during her Twin Cities visit. She will be reading from her new memoir Balcony on the Moon, joining poet Naomi Shihab Nye for a literary conversation. Additionally, she will present a workshop, a craft talk and conversation, and writing feedback for a limited number of people.

Mizna is an Arab American organization founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1998. Mizna produces an Arab American literary journal and presents public events such as the popular Arab Film Festival.
