WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 9, 2016) — ASPIRE PAC (formerly CAPAC Leadership PAC) Chair Grace Meng released the following statement on the 2016 Elections:
“We are proud of Secretary Clinton for her life-long dedication to public service and making our issues her top priorities. As Americans, we must now move forward and come together.
We celebrate the senatorial victories of Tammy Duckworth (IL) and Kamala Harris (CA), as they join U.S. Sen. Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI) as the newest members of the Senate “Girl Club.”
In the House, we have our first Vietnamese American woman Representative-Elect, Stephanie Murphy (FL-07); first Indian American woman Representative-elect, Pramila Jayapal (WA-07); Indian American Representative-Elects, Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) and Ro Khanna (CA-17); as well as returning member Colleen Hanabusa (HI-01).
With the victories, Asian American and Pacific Islander Members of Congress can increase up to 18, and we look forward to the election outcome of our colleague Ami Bera (CA-07).
Lastly, we thank Congressman Mike Honda, our chairman emeritus, for his 16 years of service to his country. We will miss you.”
The ASPIRE PAC was established to work for fair representation in the U.S. Congress by supporting and increasing the number of AAPI policymakers and federal candidates with large AAPI constituencies. The PAC works to support the values and address the issues important to the AAPI community.
