RENO, Nev. (Sept. 22, 2016) — Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, opened International Day of Peace celebrations in Nevada with Gayatri-Mantra, considered most sacred mantra of Hinduism, on Sept. 21, 2016.

This Peace event was sponsored by “Life, Peace, and Justice Commission” of Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno, Sierra Interfaith Action for Peace, and Alternatives to Violence Project Nevada. People from diverse faith groups and peace groups participated.

Zed read from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita, ancient Hindu scriptures, on the occasion; stressing unity, selfless service of mankind and working together.

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day), observed worldwide on September 21, “provides an opportunity for all humanity to come together, in spirit and in action, to forward the ideals of and conditions for peace.”
