Washington, D.C. (Sept. 22, 2016) — The Council of Korean Americans, during its CKA Gala and Awards Dinner on Friday, Oct. 14, will honor several exemplary individuals who represent the best of our community’s contributions to society. This year’s Trailblazer Award honoree is Gideon Yu.

Gideon is a Korean American sports executive and high tech investor and advisor. Now a co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers, a national football team, Gideon was a trailblazer as the first team president of color in the history of the National Football League.
Gideon also serves as the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Eva Automation. Gideon has served as an executive of Khosla Ventures, Facebook, Sequoia Partners, YouTube, Yahoo and others
Hailed as both a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist Gideon and his wife Susie Yu have given millions over the years to anti-poverty programs and scholarship programs. Gideon is on the board of Tipping Point Community, a nonprofit organization that fights poverty in the Bay Area, and BUILD, a national nonprofit organization that provides youth experiential learning through entrepreneurship in under-resourced communities.
Gideon holds degrees from the University School of Nashville, Stanford University, and Harvard Business School.
