The word “Umunne” is Igbo for brothers and sisters. The Umunne Cultural Association in Minnesota is a Nigerian nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to promote and educate the local community on all facets of Nigerian and African culture.
For more than 20 years, Igbo Fest has been one of the association’s annual celebrations that features cultural music, dancing, food and art. With a large population of West Africans in the area, this year’s event expects to draw large crowds from not only the Brooklyn Park/Brooklyn Center areas, but also from across the United States and Canada.
