ST. PAUL, Minn. (July 11, 2016) — Don’t put away your red, white and blue just yet!
A fun-filled street fair and flea market to celebrate Bastille Day will take place Sunday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Selby Avenue in St. Paul between Snelling and Fry. The family-friendly, free event with a French flair with feature special discounts at local businesses and a number of French-inspired activities for the whole family
▪ A Parisian-style flea market featuring finds from neighborhood antique shops.
▪ Street performers and musicians: Artists include Brazilian Jazz music by Mira amdTom Kehoe, accordion music by Dan Turpening, jugglers, and more.
The Bastille Day Block Party is co-sponsored by the Selby Snelling Business Association and the Union Park District Council. Bastille Day or “French National Day” commemorates the day the crowds stormed the Bastille, a fortress and prison where prisoners of influence were held—marking the beginning of the French Revolution.
