WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 28, 2016) — The White House Office of the Press Secretary on Tuesday issued a statement from NSC Spokesperson Ned Price on a meeting with Vietnamese American leaders to discuss issues of concern related to U.S. relations with Vietnam.
Deputy National Security Advisor Benjamin Rhodes on Tuesday met with representatives from the Vietnamese-American community at the White House. Attendees included leaders from academia, government, medicine, the military, and the non-profit sector.
Rhodes shared insights from the President’s trip to Vietnam in May 2016 and highlighted progress in U.S.-Vietnam relations over the past several years, said Price. Participants exchanged views on a range of topics including education, trade and investment, human rights, and immigration. He thanked participants for sharing their personal stories—including some who came to America as refugees—and for their leadership across a wide range of sectors, Price said.
