ST. PAUL, Minn. (May 10, 2016) — The state Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans will co- host the councils of color 2016 Legislative Session Recap from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Neighborhood House / Wellstone Center, 179 Robie Street East, St. Paul, MN 55107.

CAPM, together with the Council on Latino Affairs and Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage For the past three years, is hosting the event to better inform the community about the legislative achievements of the past session. This year, the three restructured ethnic councils are excited to co-host this session recap as one of our collaborative efforts.

The program will consist of two panel discussion. One will include staff and board members from the three ethnic councils’ and a second panel discussion will include legislators.

“We hope this format will foster an engaging and overall informative experience for our cultural communities for whom these councils were created to advise and advocate on behalf of in state government, particularly in the policy making process,” said Sia Her, executive director of CAPM.

The event is designed to engage and involve the community in the policy-making process. Key policy areas the ethnic council directors and legislators will address include housing, education, health and human services, jobs and economic development.
