RENO, Nev. (April 21, 2016) — Third eye, which performer Prince embraced during the last few years, was also known as divine-seeing eye in Hinduism, said Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism in Nevada.
The icon of the third eye was attributed to Hindu deity Shiva, Zed said. The third eye on Lord Shiva’s forehead symbolized his omniscience and his powers and understood to be a channel for light and heat.
Prince Rogers Nelson, electrifying and inventive musician who touched many hearts, displayed his spiritual longing. There were references to themes like God, forgiveness, religion and spirituality, god’s creation, salvation of the soul, etc., in his music. His faith-inspired activism and his spirituality-grounded political evolution hinted at his being a spiritual person, Rajan Zed said.
Gifted and prolific musician and innovator Prince; who won seven Grammy Awards, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe; and reportedly sold over 100 million records worldwide; died on April 21 in a Minneapolis suburb.
