St. Paul, Minn. (April 1, 2016) — Former Taxpayers League President Phil Krinkie has assumed a new post as President of Capital City Business Council (CCBC).

“Phil comes with a wealth of experience and decades of public service,” says Eva Ng, outgoing CCBC President and former Saint Paul mayoral candidate. Krinkie served eight terms as Minnesota State Representative from Shoreview, beginning in 1991. For six years, he headed up the Taxpayers League, ending in 2013. Currently, he maintains the responsibility of being a trustee of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System.

As President of CCBC, he looks forward to leading the discussion and giving voice to small business owners in Saint Paul and surrounding cities, especially on the subject of mandatory paid sick leave and other employment benefits, as Krinkie himself is a Saint Paul business owner of the Snelling Company. He plans to continue quarterly meetings with the Saint Paul Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI), an ongoing dialogue and feedback system started by Ng and a member of her Board of Directors, Mark Nedoroski.

“Since our founding in 2008, we have achieved a great deal. We protected bar owners from a double digit percentage, serial license fee hike in 2008. We testified and lobbied to serve the interest of hundreds of University Avenue small business owners along the Central Corridor from 2009 to 2014. We led Saint Paul property owners to stand up to DSI and asked for changes from unreasonable practices for more than five years. To his credit, Director Ricardo Cervantes held up his end of the bargain. Not to mention many individuals who sought our help with things like roofing issues to building condemnations. It was a great ride.” reminesced Ng. “Phil is a fresh horse with excellent qualifications and good ideas. I look forward to seeing CCBC flourish under his leadership.”
