When you hear the words “staged reading,” what scene pops into your mind? A single chair in an empty room with a playwright reading from a script? A full set with costumed actors reading from cue cards?
New Eyes is somewhere in between. We’ve got great local actors bringing the characters on the page to life with rich, raw performances. Those of you who like to read the book before seeing the movie will love these; imagine how you would design the set and costumes while hearing the play read for you. With some you can then see what the professionals did, as many of these plays are produced by Mu in following seasons. Both Purple Cloud and You for Me for You were tested by Mu in the New Eyes Festival and were produced in full this season.
Join us next weekend and you can be the first on your block to see one of these great plays before everyone else. Plus, all readings are FREE to the public, with a reception to follow where you can meet the players and mingle.
