MINNEAPOLIS (March 11, 2016) — What do the artwork of Jim Hodges, cruise ship entertainment, and Irving Berlin have in common? Come find out in ARENA Dances’ “TWITCH”, a series of new and repertoire dance works presented in celebration of the company’s vibrant 20-year history!
ARENA will be hitting the Southern Theater stage in April to premiere its new quartet, Picturing That Day/Candy Box, commissioned by the Kevin J. Mossier Foundation.

“These performances land right in the middle of our 20-month celebration of our 20th anniversary season,” said ARENA Dances Artistic Director Mathew Janczewski. “I’m thrilled to be dancing in every piece and share some of our very best work from the past and today for new and longtime audiences.”
The bill also includes selected works from the company’s repertoire including “Les Petites Choses”, and their title piece, “TWITCH: The Story of a Life Unlived”, will be performed at 7:30 p.m., April 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 23, and at 2 p.m. on April 2, 3, 23 and 24, at The Southern Theater, 1420 S Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55454.
“I’m thrilled to be joining our guest artists Gabriel Anderson, Heather Klopchin and Christine Maginnis on our return to the stage for the 20th Anniversary Season,” Janczewski said.
ARENA Dances is a modern dance company performing the work of Mathew Janczewski. According to the ARENA Dances website, the dances are abstract in form, with depth and emotion that explores the limits of human connectivity. The kinetic style of structured physical movement springs from Janczewski’s own experiences, with the ARENA performers giving it individual and common form.

Tickets are $27 (all fees included). For information call The Southern Theater Box Office at 612-326-1811 or visit online at southerntheater.org and https://southern.ticketworks.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=39.

A post-performance reception with the dancers will follow the opening night performance on April 1st.
