The Minnesota Museum of American Art will host an Artist Discussion with glass blowing expert Helen Lee at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, in the MMAA Project Space, 141 E. 4th Street (The Historic Pioneer Endicott building) in St. Paul, Minn. The event is free and open to the public.
Lee is a professor and artist at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and serves as the MMAA Curator of Exhibitions and Public Programs.
Christopher Atkins will lead a discussion about Helen’s contribution, Material Mythologies. By looking at specific pieces, they will talk about her masterful glass blowing techniques and how she links language, translation, and her Asian American identity to other themes in the exhibition.
Other upcoming exhibition-related programs include MMAA After Hours on one Friday of each month from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Each even includes a host, a new activity, speaker, event, or opportunity to connect.

An Artist Talk with Sonya Clark will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 6 p.m. at Minneapolis Institute of Art, 2400 3rd Avenue South, Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the public.
Material Mythologies artist Sonya Clark will discuss how her work weaves together histories of textiles and cultural identity. The varied objects she crafts reflect the rich textile and hair traditions of Africa, black America, and the Caribbean.
