We are excited to announce two special guests for our You for Me for You post-show talk back discussion on Saturday, February 27 after the 7:30 p.m.performance! In partnership with Gazillion Strong, the discussion will feature Angilee Shah and Julia Nekessa Opoti, our cast, and director Randy Reyes as they field questions from the audience and discuss the play. Tickets are on sale now!
About our Guests:
 
Angilee Shah (left) is the digital editor for Global Nation, PRI’s coverage of immigration in the US. She focuses on building features that encourage dialogue, especially by connecting diverse communities online. Shah is the co-editor ofChinese Characters, a collection of stories about life in China published by UC Press in September, 2012. Formerly the editor of the online magazine AsiaMedia, which was published at the UCLA Asia Institute, she is now a consulting editor to the Journal of Asian Studies. She has reported from across Asia, including China, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, and was a South Asian Journalists Association Reporting Fellow in 2007/08. Her writing has appeared in the LA Weekly, Far Eastern Economic Review, Mother Jones Online, Pacific Standard, TimeOut Singapore and Global Voices.
Julia Nekessa Opoti (right) is a communications and media practitioner working to create voice channels for some of Minnesota’s most pressing political issues. Her work in media promotes the articulation by grassroots voices of often unheard perspectives on minority and immigrant life in Minnesota, particularly the Twin Cities. Her work explores such subjects as class, migration, education, sexuality, identity and belonging from the immigrant and diaspora perspectives.
Gazillion Strong is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of resources and tools that aid marginalized communities, such as adopted people, foster alums, immigrants, people of color, and LGBTQ community members, to speak and advocate for themselves and others.
