Over $1.9 million in loans and grants available for capital improvement projects
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Jan. 21, 2016) — The City of Saint Paul’s Neighborhood Sales Tax Revitalization (STAR) Program is seeking applicants for the 2016 loan and grant funding competitive application cycle.
Over $1.9 million will be available in loans and grants for eligible projects including capital improvement projects in Saint Paul neighborhoods that further economic, commercial or residential development. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on March 23, 2016.
“Every year, the STAR program bolsters economic development and helps strengthen neighborhoods across the city,” said Mayor Chris Coleman. “Eligible nonprofit, for-profit or public entities should all strongly consider this valuable opportunity.”
Last year, a multitude of organizations received funding for their projects, including the Asian Economic Development Association, Model Cities of Saint Paul, Inc., and East Side Neighborhood Development Company.
“Through the STAR program, Saint Paul is seeking partners to build the future,” said City Council President Russ Stark. “We are looking for proposals that keep the momentum going for the great things happening here.”
An informational workshop about the Neighborhood STAR Program and application process will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Historic Mounds Theatre located at 1029 Hudson Road, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55106. Program guidelines and applications will be available at the workshop, and afterwards by calling 651-266-STAR or online at www.stpaul.gov/star.
Applicants can request a minimum of $5,000 in assistance and the funding must be matched dollar-for-dollar with private resources. After a complete review of applications, funding decisions will be announced in July 2015.
