Intermedia Arts & Kaotic Good Productions invites the public to attend The America Project Potluck of Ideas, 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave South, Minneapolis. Hosted by Robert Karimi, The America Project offers mouth-watering performances by Tou Saiko Lee & Band; Leah Nelson; BoyTron Mero Cocinero; Kathy Maxwell; Saymoukda Duangphouxay Vongsay, and a sweet-delicious screening of Sekou Sundiata’s 51st Dream State Film.
Intermedia Arts & Kaotic Good Productions will host a community potluck in the spirit of Sekou Sundiata’s vision for a 51st Dream State. Feed and be fed. Cook up ideas together. Share your food and your food for thought. What do you bring to the table when it comes to your feelings about the state of America? Share your food for thought! Bring a potluck item inspired by this question.
Potluck of Ideas is an artist-led community gathering supported by The America Project, a program of MAPP International Productions with funding from The Ford Foundation and The Nathan Cummings Foundation.
The America Project celebrates and continues the work of poet, musician, teacher, theater and spoken word artist Sekou Sundiata, who dreamed of creating public rituals around our American “holy days” and civic life. In 2009, MAPP International selected Intermedia Arts to be the first organization in the country to host a public gathering of The America Project since Sundiata’s passing in 2007.
Intermedia Arts brings 37 years of experience using art and dialogue as a catalyst for community change and bringing underrepresented voices and stories to the forefront.
Admission is $5 with a potluck item or $10 without. For more information contact Theresa Sweetland, executive and artistic director, Intermedia Arts at 612-874-2813 or [email protected].
