MINNEAPOLIS (December 1, 2010) – PFund Foundation, the only Minnesota foundation dedicated exclusively to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, last week announced four new board members. Stephen Bubul, Kris Maritz, Anna Min and Dawn LaDassor will serve three-year terms.

“Stephen, Kris, Anna and Dawn are community leaders committed to advancing equality and social justice for LGBT people in the Upper Midwest,” says PFund board president Lupe Castillo. “We are fortunate to have recruited their talents and expertise during this critical time for our community.”

Anna Min graduated from Macalester College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics. As a queer Korean-American native of South Minneapolis’s Cedar-Riverside community, Min has been active in the community since the age of 12.

Min’s service began with lobbying and organizing work with the Welfare Rights Committee. In high school, Min was homecoming queen and District 202 board member, serving as secretary until attending college in 2005.

A member of the Rainbow Health Initiative’s board of directors since 2008, Min has served on PFund’s communications committee for the past four years and is a member of the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota’s social change fund committee. Professionally, Anna has worked with Wells Fargo Private Banking and Wealth Management Group and is now with ROR Tax Professionals.

Stephen Bubul is a shareholder in the Minneapolis law firm Kennedy & Graven, where he specializes in housing, redevelopment and public finance law. He holds three degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison – including an undergraduate degree, master’s degree in urban and regional planning and a law degree.

A former board member and chair of Quatrefoil Library, Bubul also served for 15 years on the board of directors for Community Shares of Minnesota, a nonprofit workplace giving organization. He is currently a member of the campaign committee for Clare Midtown, a 45-unit apartment building in Minneapolis developed by Clare Housing to serve people living with HIV/AIDS. After more than 20 years in St. Paul, he recently crossed the river to Minneapolis, where he lives with his partner, Lee Lewis.

Kris Maritz is a finance professional with more than 25 years experience in business consulting and economic development. Specializing in real estate purchases and loan packages for small businesses, primarily in immigrant and ethnic communities, Maritz provides counseling for entrepreneurs who want to start or expand a business. Maritz currently works at the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers in Minneapolis.

Previously, she has worked at the African Development Center of Minnesota, the Metropolitan Economic Development Association, Minneapolis, and the city of Minneapolis’s Department of Community Planning and Economic Development, where she created an Islamic finance program. She served as board chair for the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. She volunteers on the board of the nonprofit Midwest Health Center for Women, and prior to joining the PFund board, she was on PFund’s finance committee.

Dawn LaDassor is a licensed social worker and received her MSW from the University of Minnesota in 1999. She worked as a social worker from 2000-2008, first at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and then University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview. In 2008, she made a career move into the world of benefits compensation and worked until just recently for Amalfi Consulting as a compensation analyst, where she conducted compensation review and design plan analysis and created online tools used for for-profit board governance assessment.

LaDassor was recently recruited to work for Blanchard Chase as a benefits analyst. LaDassor has been active with PFund for many years. She first got involved as a board member during the early 1990s as was one of the first women on the board.

PFund Foundation is a community foundation that advances social justice for LGBT communities in the Upper Midwest by providing hands on assistance to organizations, funding systems change work, developing leaders, inspiring giving, and convening & reporting on issues of importance for our communities. Established in 1987 as Philanthrofund Foundation in Minneapolis when four friends pooled $2,000, PFund is now supported by thousands of individuals in dozens of states who have created a vibrant and vital community foundation that celebrates and strengthens our communities.

PFund is one of only a handful of foundations in the nation created specifically by and for LGBT communities. PFund envisions a time when LGBT people are celebrated and live free from discrimination, violence, invisibility and isolation. Today, PFund manages nearly $1 million in assets, enjoying the support of committed donors and dedicated volunteers from LGBT and allied communities. More at PFundOnline.org
