MINNEAPOLIS – Asian Media Access has a music program and it is expanding thanks to it new Multimedia Arts Complex at 2418 Plymouth Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55411. In partnership with the University of Minnesota’s Urban Research and Outreach/Engagement Center, Asian Media Access was able to receive computer technology and other funding to help ready its Multimedia Arts Complex that opened this fall to serve diverse youth of color in the North Minneapolis neighborhoods.
Ange Hwang, executive director, said Asian Media Access now offers an extensive after-school multi-media arts program serving low income and at-risk youth.
From October 1, 2010 through June 15, 2011, Asian Media Access will welcomg youth to a Multimedia Open Lab from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Music classes are held daily, with Monday Piano lessons from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Guitar lessons on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Rock Band Practice is held Sundays from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Boys Tumbling and Dance Class are held Wednesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Intermediate Girls Dance Class is held Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. On Saturdays the Boys Tumbling and Dance Class is held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Intermediate Girl Dance Class is held from noon to 5:00 p.m.
The Advanced Girls Dance Class is held on Saturdays from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Youth Media Force Production classes are held Fridays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Tuition is free but students are expected to come with 100 percent commitment. The Facilities fee is $50 for six months and scholarships are available.

Asian Media Access will hold its 16th Annual Media/Leadership Camp for youth at Camp Elk River from October 21-24. As part of this successful Camp, AMA provides for the youth participants a professional mentorship session, which will be held on Thursday, October 21 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
