San Francisco, CA (August 30, 2010) – The Association of Asian American Investment Managers, a forum to meet and conduct business with plan sponsors, fund-of-funds and institutional investors, announced the opening of official registration for its 2010 national event, Building Bridges: Capital Access, Asia, Government Policy today.
The conference will be held at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco on October 14-15, 2010.
Sold out to attendees for the past two years, AAAIM has designed a signature program to address the most critical connections for success in the investment business. The conference will join thought leaders from the industry, limited partners, fund-of-funds, managers and the AAAIM community with high-impact learning, targeted networking and face-to-face interactions.
“We’re very pleased to introduce established names in the international investment world to share their success stories,” said Maeley Tom, co-chair and co-founder, AAAIM and former CalPERS board trustee. “This event is the first of its kind to bring together a diverse group of people from Wall Street’s top financial institutions, principals from Washington, DC and governmental officials to create dialogue and collaboration.”
Highlights of the program seek to answer the most challenging issues facing investment professionals today, including: how new government policies impact competitiveness, and how regulatory changes, transparency requirements and capital from Washington are changing the game.
“We want to grow the leadership base for Asian American investment professionals,” said Clayton Jue, co-chair and co-founder, AAAIM. “For this purpose, we are bringing together industry experts and key decision makers that will provide their expertise and knowledge on timely topics such as Wall Street Reform and the top trends in this new era for investors.”
The program will feature a Who’s Who in the Asian American financial community as presenters, speakers and honorees including: The Honorable John Chiang, California State Controller, Lynda Choi, University of California, Office of the Treasurer of the Regents, Ta-lin Hsu of H&Q Asia Pacific, Ginger Lew of the National Economic Council, John Liu, New York City Comptroller and representatives from the Chinese Consulate and Singapore government.
AAAIM will present Ambassador Linda Tsao Yang the Lifetime Achievement Award. The last day of the conference will also feature a high profile speaker from the U.S. Treasury to be announced the day of the event.
This year AAAIM will debut a new high-energy, fast-paced session “The AAAIM Rapid Fire Summit” that will allow managers to present their fund ideas to a panel of limited partners and fund-of-funds who will provide immediate feedback, recommendations and planning strategies for success.
