St. Paul, Minn. – Riverview Economic Development Association has been selected as one of 41 finalists nationwide for the Tom’s of Maine “50 States for Good” initiative – the only Minnesota nonprofit to be selected. This year the “50 States for Good” program drew submissions from every state with special focus on non-profits that need volunteers to help get important projects started in their community or to broaden their reach.

The five finalists who will each receive $20,000 will be selected via an online voting process. REDA has started a dedicated online campaign to secure daily votes to become one of the final five. Voting begins today and runs through September 10th.  Selected recipients will also receive a commitment from Tom’s of Maine and VolunteerMatch to help recruit volunteers for the project.

If selected the grant will support REDA’s “Clean, Green, and Thriving Streets!” program. Funds will be used to install public art cans to collect litter, reduce waste at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, and engage volunteers as environmental stewards.

REDA’s application was chosen based on its use of community volunteers, project achievability and positive impact on the community. REDA is encouraging Minnesotan’s to support our efforts to bring visibility, volunteers, and funding through this initiative.
