Join Brooklyn Park Police Chief Michael Davis and Mayor Steve Lampi in celebrating the opening of the city’s new south side precinct, the Village Creek Community Police Station. The event will be held on Thursday, August 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is open to everyone. There will be a a ribbon cutting, snacks, K-9 demo and a showcase of the Police Department’s SWAT, DARE and squad vehicles. There will also be plenty of activities for kids.

The new station will contribute significantly to the stability of the area. Located at the intersection of Brooklyn Boulevard and Welcome Avenue, this fully functional 24 hour community police facility is part of the city’s commitment to promote public safety and improve economic development.

Besides housing police staff, it will also feature amenities for residents, such as a meeting space for community groups and improved access to police and city services. The station was funded through federal and county grants.

The ribbon cutting will take place at 6 p.m. The new station is located at 7608 Brooklyn Boulevard.
