St. Paul, Minn. (July 13, 2010) – Y. Paul Huo, Arkadelphia, Ark., has been appointed dean of Metropolitan State University’s College of Management by President Sue K. Hammersmith. The appointment was effective July 1.
Huo will provide leadership through continuing to strengthen and develop the undergraduate and graduate programs of the college and promoting its programs in the community. The College of Management is a leader in online learning and offers nine bachelor of science degrees, seven bachelor of applied science degrees, three master’s degree programs, two master’s certificates and the applied doctor of business administration. Undergraduate programs include accounting, business administration, economics, finance, human resource management, international business, management, management information systems and marketing. Graduate programs include master of business administration; master of management information systems; master of public and nonprofit administration; and doctor of business administration.
Huo was professor of management at Henderson State University, School of Business, in Arkadelphia, Ark., where he is faculty director of the Business Mentorship Program, holds the Cecil W. Cupp Chair of Business and is former dean of the School of Business. Huo has also been dean and professor at both the University of Bridgeport, School of Business, Conn., and the University of Puget Sound, School of Business and Leadership, Tacoma, Wash. Earlier he served as associate professor of management at Washington State University, assistant professor of management at California State University at Chico and instructor of management at San Jose State University.
Huo holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University, an M.B.A. in general management from National Chengchi University and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior and industrial relations from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School
of Business.
His predecessor, Gary Seiler, will take leave from the college’s dean position July 1 to serve as Metropolitan State’s interim provost and vice president of academic affairs.
