The Minnesota Chapter of TiE Global, the largest non-profit fostering entrepreneurship around the world, is hosting a special panel on “Minnesota’s Opportunity: Building a Global Competitive Advantage”, Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Radisson Roseville Hotel, 2540 North Cleveland Avenue, St. Paul.

The business casual event will begin with networking and hors d’oeuvres followed by introductions of a startup company and a community in Minnesota outside the metropolitan area.  TiE will introduce “Start-up Company” and the “Meet Minnesota” community, followed by the Panel on the topic “The Financing and Taxing of Your Business”.

Rebecca J. Paulson, Vice President and Senior State Tax Director for U.S. Bancorp, will moderate the featured program, “The Financing and Taxing of Your Business.” The panel will address several topics, from business growth in today’s economy, fostering startups, accessing financing, tax policy – credits and incentives.

Featured Panelists scheduled are Michael Vekich of Vekich Associates; David Welliver of WellAdvised, LLC; Kevin Spreng of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, LLP; Marc Salmon of Arch Funding; Theodore K. Furber of Furber, Timmer & Zahn, PLLP.

The panel includes three members of the Governor’s 21st Century Tax Reform Commission and active participants in the start-up, M & A and angel and venture capital arenas. The panelists will have information on the recently enacted Angel Tax Credit and R & D Investment Credit – two of several recommendations the 21st Century Tax Commission made to the legislature and the Governor.

The panel will also share insight on the view from California and across Minnesota on VC investment, merger and acquisition activity and additional Tax Commission findings.
