Asian Media Access, the Twin Cities nonprofit organization dedicated to cultural enhancement through media arts and education, in collaboration with MN Sunshine Dance Group and Pan Asian Artists Alliance, is proud to present “Pan Asian Dance Festival” on Sunday, May 23, from Noon to 5:00 p.m. at Burnsville Performing Arts Center, 12600 Nicollet Avenue, Burnsville.

Families can take part in Asian craft making, street art, face painting, and other family fun activities. The cultural dance performances begin at 2:00 p.m. and feature a diverse display from the Asian community including Indian, Chinese, Hmong, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Laotian, and Vietnamese dancers. Locally known dance groups such as CAAM Chinese Dance Theater, Ragamala Dance Group, and Changmi Korean Dance will perform fascinating dance performances.

Pan Asian Dance Festival, a part of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month activities, will promote a greater understanding of Asian countries and culture. The festival aims to celebrate and unify the diverse Asian communities in Minnesota, and to educate and share the arts and traditions of Asians, and build intergenerational and intercultural bridges across all barriers.

“With this joint vision of success, participants of different cultural backgrounds will be encouraged to take pride in their cultural heritage while celebrating the rich textures of the Asian American and Pacific Islander tapestry of which they are an essential part.” said Ange Hwang, executive director, Asian Media Access. “It is our vision that this project embodies a jubilant celebration of AAPI art and culture, as well as a forum for creating a newfound sense of unity and mutual respect among the local AAPI community.  The public will gain an insightful appreciation of the rich cultural diversity represented in the Pan-Asian community.”

Admission for the event is free and all are welcome to come enjoy many cultural activities for the entire family. You won’t want to miss this outstanding cultural event on a world-class stage.
