One of the great international artists of our time, Japan’s Saburo Teshigawara erases the body and reaches for the dance of the soul with a series of performances of Miroku on April 22-24, 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Art Center, McGuire Theater, 1750 Hennepin, Minneapolis.In a rare U.S. visit, he presents his newest solo, a work of striking visual beauty, rigor, and clarity.
Miroku is an exploration of space and velocity, creating an eternity where everything harmonizes with delicate yet powerful tension. Fluid movement becomes edgy and then blissfully still. Teshigawara has likewise received increasing international attention in the visual arts field for his art exhibitions, films, and videos as well as his set, lighting, and costume designs for all his performances. It is co-presented with Northrop Dance at the University of Minnesota.
