Julie Chu, a member of the U.S. National Women’s Hockey Team and three time Olympic team member, including the 2010 Silver Medal team, sent a comment on Jessica Wong, the freshman at the University of Duluth who was featured in the April 9, 2010 Issue of Asian American Press as a member of the national champion UMD Women’s Hockey team.
“I had only seen her (Wong) play once before the final game during a U-18 summer series between Canada and the USA, so it was fun to see her in a Bulldog jersey. I thought she played a great championship game.
“As a freshman, it can be nerve racking to play in such an intense game, but she rose to the occasion. She is an extremely smart player who knows how to use her teammates effectively and to get herself in good supporting positions.
“For the final goal, she got herself in good screening position in front of the goalie and made a great tip that squeaked through the goalie’s legs. She started her college career off with a bang and I can only imagine her being more successful as she matures and develops more in the next 3 years.”
