ICE = INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY ELEVATION, will hold its quarterly Open Mic Live! event Friday, April 23, 2010, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Hamline University, Lower Level Bush Student Center, 1536 Hewitt Avenue, St. Paul, MN. It is a first-come to fill the performance time slots so arrive early if you intend to perform.
With each Open Mic there is also a special guest performer. This month is Tou Saiko Lee, a spoken word artist and singer.
The Open Mic is intended to be a positive social movement as art for social change. It is meant to serve as a venue that is sensitive to new and developing artists while featuring emerging artists.
It is also meant to be a safe place to express the self, hone skills, and take artistic pieces further, and a platform for people to address community issues and deliver important messages.
