State Sen. Satveer Chaudhary, DFL-Fridley, recently received a string of awards for his dedication to outdoor and sportsmen’s issues at the Legislature from the Minnesota Muskie Alliance, Land of Lakes Bowfishing Association, and Pheasants Forever. The Minnesota Muskie Alliance held a vote to recognize one legislator that has shown leadership in the areas of fisheries conservation. “Sen. Chaudhary has proven to be a champion for fishery and fisherman alike and his work with the Legacy Amendment as well as his inclusion of the new statewide 48 inch limit for muskies made him the obvious choice to be the inaugural recipient for this award,” said Shawn Kellett from the Minnesota Muskie Alliance.
At the 2010 Minnesota Outdoor Heritage Alliance (MOHA) Legislative Banquet the Land of Lakes Bowfishing Association presented Sen. Chaudhary with a 2009 LLBA Appreciation Award for his efforts passing legislation to allow night bowfishing statewide and for the entire season, and for his efforts with improving the fishing contest statute during the 2009 Legislative Session.
“It was a great experience to work closely with Sen. Chaudhary during the 2009 session and having the opportunity for us to improve the sport of bowfishing in Minnesota,” said Brian Petschl, legislative director for the Land of Lake Bowfishing Association. “We are very fortunate to have a legislator like Sen. Chaudhary who truly is dedicated to Minnesota sportsmen and sportswomen. We look forward to working with the senator on additional issues in the future.”
Sen. Chaudhary was also honored at the March 6 Anoka County Pheasants Forever banquet for his distinguished efforts in fish, game and wildlife habitat. Pheasants Forever awarded Sen. Chaudhary’s work on the Outdoor Legacy Amendment and the Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council and walk-in hunting access legislation.
“I’m honored to have been recognized by these three outstanding sportsmen’s organizations,” said Sen. Chaudhary. “I look forward to working with them again in the future to promote issues related to hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities enjoyed by Minnesotans.”
