White Bear Lake, Minn. (March 20, 2010) – The Century College Asian Student Association held a successful Asian Appreciation Day event March 20, to celebrate the group’s 30-year anniversary.
Students and family members filled the West Campus Theatre to enjoy excellent singing, dancing, drumming and a colorful fashion show featuring both traditional and modern ensembles.
Students Marlena Yang and Teela Moua did a wonderful job as hosts of the program. Nikki Yang was the energetic event coordinator.
President Larry Litecky told the audience that the number of Asian students at the college has grown from 342 in 2000 to 1,425 in 2010. “The Asian Student Association is the most vibrant club on campus,” said Litecky. “I really appreciate its focus on academics and its work to form small study groups. Century’s Asian students are the most successful on campus in terms of persisting from one semester to the next.”
