St. Paul, Minn. (March 8, 2010) – Amy Johnson, a Crystal, Minn., resident and second-year William Mitchell student was recently elected co-regional director of the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association’s Central-North Region for 2009-2010.
In this role, Johnson is in charge of communications between the different chapters of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association in seven states. She also helps plan the national convention held in conjunction with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s national convention each year.
Johnson is the historian of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at William Mitchell. She is responsible for updating the blog, helping plan events, and documenting the different events the group has each year. She is also involved in state chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association
The National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association represents the interests of Asian Pacific American law students and provides advocacy, support, and career development opportunities for its members throughout the United States.
The Asian Pacific American Law Students Association chapter at Mitchell is designed to foster and promote Asian law students and to serve the needs and interests of Asian/Pacific Americans and other under-represented people. The organization is open to all Mitchell students.
Johnson has bachelor’s degree in sociology from Concordia University St. Paul, where she helped found the Project Against Homelessness on campus to bring issues to students.
“I am very proud to serve in this role and I will use the opportunity to introduce Asian students and attorneys from across the country to William Mitchell’s approach to practical legal education,” she said.
