Miriam Yeung, the Executive Director of National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum and social justice advocate will be in town Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Sawatdee, 607 Washington Avenue South, downtown Minneapolis.

CANCELLED – RESCHEDULED

Miriam Yeung, the Executive Director of National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum and social justice advocate was to be in town Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Sawatdee, 607 Washington Avenue South, downtown Minneapolis. Her flight was cancelled because of the East Coast snowstorm and the event is rescheduled for the same time and place on March 27.

Yeung will be in town to find out more about the local NAPAWF chapter, its current policy and advocacy work and the upcoming teen retreat that the St. Cloud chapter is organizing. The St. Cloud chapter will have an additional retreat planning event on Friday, Feb 26, 6:00 p.m. at Sawatdee, downtown St. Cloud.

NAPAWF is the only national, multi-issue API women’s organization in the country. Its mission is to build a movement to advance social justice and human rights for API women and girls.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in the projects of Brooklyn, Yeung received her Master’s in Public Administration at Baruch College and her B.A. in psychology/pre-med at NYU.

Prior to leading NAPAWF, Yeung worked for a decade in New York City for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, where she filled several capacities including Director of Public Policy and Government Relations. She was also staff for the Center’s Youth Enrichment Services Program for seven years.
