MINNEAPOLIS – In an effort to challenge and encourage students to utilize high-level thinking skills, the Minneapolis Public Schools on February 13 hosted an annual district-wide chess competition. MPS students in grades K though 12 were eligible to play. Trophies were awarded to the top finishers.

Grades K- 3, Individual:

1st Place: Davis Everson-Rose, Burroughs

2nd Place: Noah Hunsicker, Lake Harriet

3rd Place: Anthony Rodriguez, Pillsbury

Top Girl: Kaya Capriui, Loring
