LOS ANGELES (February 8, 2010) – The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment Foundation and Fox Entertainment Group requests a call for entries from writers, both established and aspiring of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, for the prestigious 11th Annual CAPE Foundation New Writers Awards sponsored by FOX.
Selected winners, in both Screenwriting and Television Writing categories, will each receive a cash prize of $4,000, Final Draft software, a Staged Reading of their winning script as well as meetings with prominent entertainment industry producers and executives. Submissions for the 11th Annual CAPE Foundation New Writers Awards will be accepted beginning February 15, 2010. All entries must be post-marked by Friday, May 28, 2010. “The CAPE Foundation New Writers Awards is an opportunity to cultivate and recognize excellence in the realm of film and television writing by highly talented writers of Asian and/or Pacific Islander heritage,” states Laverne McKinnon, co-president of CAPE.
The 2010 CAPE Foundation New Writer Awards winners will be announced in August of 2010.
The 2009 CAPE Foundation New Writer Awards winners include Michael Choi for his “Cranes” in the Feature Film Writing category; and Aaron Ho for “How I Met Your Mother: For Better or For Worse” in the Television Writing category.
Leo Chu, writer and executive producer of Spike TV’s Emmy Award-winning “Afro Samurai Resurrection” is serving as the 2010 CFNWA Chair.
The CAPE Board of Advisors include distinguished executives and artists such as Ang Lee, John Woo, Terence Chang, Dean Devlin, Warrington Hudlin, David Henry Hwang, Lou Diamond Phillips, Richard Sakai, B.D. Wong, Chris Lee, Fritz Friedman, Janet Yang and Teddy Zee.
