Minnesota has been getting a lot of exposure exactly a week ago the Minnesota Gophers were featured on the ESPN as they took on Syracuse in the Texas Bowl. Now Mike Tyson brings an exciting fight card to Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Iron Mike Productions host the first card on the 2014 ESPN Boxing calendar with a fight card that will be broadcast live on ESPN at the Target Center. This fight card has a series of exciting bouts including an opportunity for 23-1-1 (14 knockouts) Minnesota star Caleb Truax vs. veteran Essie Duran from Ghana. This fight will determine if he is ready to enter boxing’s elite. That fight will be the co-main event. The main event features a title fight between Argenis Mendez vs. Rances Barthelemy, 12 rounds, for Mendez’s IBF junior lightweight title.
The fight card features 7 Minnesota fighters in what promises to be an action packed evening. The other Minnesota fighters are: Tony Lee, St. Paul who takes on Willshaun Boxley, Coon Rapids, Javante Starks, Minneapolis challenges Trevor Marman of Duluth and Nate Richardson from Coon Rapids will clash with Minneapolis’ own Damien Hill.
The Mike Tyson hot off of his success on Broadway with his one man smash hit, the Undisputed Truth which chronicled his life and not only turned a country but was also featured on HBO. One thing Mike regrets is how he feels he was exploited by promoters. He promises to treat the fighters he is connected with well. Mike Tyson will be here in Minnesota for the action
