HONOLULU (Dec. 18, 2012) — Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing (AHFI) has been nominated for three awards in the inaugural U.S. Benchmark Litigation Annual Awards.
In the Pro Bono Firm of the Year category, AHFI is among nine nominees, seven of which are among the largest firms in the country. AHFI is the only Hawai`i firm to be nominated in a national category.
In the Hawai`i Firm of the Year category, AHFI is one of four firms nominated across the state.
In the Regional Impact Case category, AHFI is nominated for its successful appeal of nearly $700 million in transient accommodations taxes (TAT) assessed to 15 online travel companies by the State of Hawai‘i Department of Taxation. In this category, five of the 10 nominated cases across the country will be selected as “impact cases” for having a profound effect on the business, financial, or legislative climate of their home jurisdiction.
The shortlist of nominated firms was derived from peer review and research conducted for the 2013 edition of Benchmark Litigation, the guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys, as well as from supplementary questionnaires submitted to the publisher in fall 2012.
Winners will be announced on Jan. 31, 2013, in New York City.
