The Board of Directors of Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota on April 27, 2011 announced the selection of Karina Forrest-Perkins, MHR, LADC as its next Executive Director. She will be replacing Ms. Connie Skillingstad who has been the PCAMN Executive Director for the past nine years.
Ms. Forrest-Perkins is a long time child advocate serving children and families for the past 25 years. She will be relocating here from Oklahoma, where she has recently served in the following capacities: Vice-Chair of the Oklahoma Interagency Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention; Director of Education and Prevention for A Chance to Change Foundation; Advisory Board Member for the Multi-Cultural Action Center through National Alliance on Mental Illness; and Executive Director of Oklahoma’s National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Forrest-Perkins received her Bachelor of Arts and her Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born in Winona, Minnesota in 1967 and relocated to Oklahoma when she was three years of age. She is a member of the Cherokee Tribe and is also a licensed addiction therapist for children and families specializing in trauma and child maltreatment. Ms. Forrest-Perkins will officially assume her Executive Director position with PCAMN on Monday, May 16, 2011.
