0Healthcare for the Burmese and Karen Communities in Minnesota: A Community Conversation, will be held Sat., Oct. 29, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rondo St. Paul Public Library, 461 North Dale St., St. Paul.
Join in on a panel discussion to improve healthcare for newcomers from Burma. Coffee, refreshments, greeting from SiyadAbdullahi, MD, MPH, CEO of The Language Banc Greeting from SiyadAbdullahi, MD, MPH, CEO, The language Banc, and overview of the Karen/Burmese Communities in Minnesota from Myo Nyunt.
The panel discussion be an interactive opportunity for the audience to ask questions of the group about community health needs.
The panel moderator will be Sara Chute, the Refugee Health Program Manager & Community Consultant at the Minnesota Department of Health.
The panelists include: Stephanie Stanton, MD, HealthEastRoselawnClinic, is board certifiedin family medicine and works with underserved populations; David Power, MD, MPH, University of Minnesota Bethesda Clinic, has interests including patient care, clinical teaching and natural family planning; Mary Ann Silvano, RN, HealthEast, has experience caring for patients in the Burmese and Karen communities; Jacqueline O’Brien, M.A., LPCC, Associated Clinic of Psychology, provides in-home therapeutic services for children, adolescents, and adults.
