ST. PAUL (Nov. 5, 2015) — The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State is currently accepting applications from individuals who are interested in serving on the board of the state Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans (CAPM). Applications must be submitted by Nov. 24, 2015, to be assured of full consideration by the appointing authorities.
The CAPM advises the governor and Legislature on issues confronting Asian‐Pacific people in the state of Minnesota. The CAPM board must include one member from each of the five ancestries with the state’s highest percentages of Asian‐Pacific populations, as determined by the state demographer. The other six members must be broadly representative of the rest of the Asian‐Pacific population, with no more than one council member from any one ancestry. The council must include at least five women. For purposes of this clause, ancestry refers to heritage that is commonly accepted in Minnesota as a unique population.
