An event to draw awareness to the need for fundamental change in the criminal justice system will be held January 11, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Riverview Cafe and Wine Bar, 3747 – 42nd Avenue S., Minneapolis. The event is to enlist support for a movement to change what supporters feel is an American prison system that has lost sight of its goal to rehabilitate and has since become a convenient destination for the poor, minorities and the mentally ill.
Join Sarah Walker, COO of 180 Degrees and lead organizer of Second Chance Coalition, who will discuss what she has uncovered about the U.S. criminal justice system and the work for a radical shift in American priorities.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Reserve a seat by contacting [email protected] or stop by Headwaters Foundation for Justice at 2801 – 21st Avenue S, Suite 132 B, Minneapolis, MN 55407. www.headwatersfoundation.org
