Vi Huynh, the 30,000th graduate of Metropolitan State University, is congratulated by Dean of College of Management Dr. Paul Huo.
St. Paul, Minn. (December 14, 2010) – Nearly 40 years after being founded, Metropolitan State University has surpassed 30,000 graduates. On Dec. 14, approximately 1,050 students received bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees at the university’s 87th commencement exercises in the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium.
Among the participants was Vi Huynh, Brooklyn Park, who was recognized as the university’s 30,000th graduate. To commemorate the occasion, Alumni Association President Kathy Burnham presented Huynh with a small gift basket.
Huynh, a financial systems analyst with U.S. Bank, was not aware that would be receiving the honor until moments before he walked across the stage to receive his B.S. in accounting. He attended the ceremony with a friend, as his parents were in Vietnam attending to family issues.
Metropolitan State University, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, provides high-quality, affordable academic and professional degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. It is the only state university in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
