MINNEAPOLIS — The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations will hold its 9th Annual Leadership Conference from July 26-29, 2012 in Minneapolis — one of the nation’s most vibrant and diverse metropolitan communities.
Each year, the conference staff works diligently to create an event that will serve as a catalyst to motivate and inspire North American Vietnamese youths. Throughout the conference, participants expand their leadership capacity in order to make a direct change in their community.
UNAVSA’s goals are to unite Vietnamese Student Associations across the nation and to partner with other major Asian American organizations to build a stronger voice in the APIA community.
Conference activities extend through four days and three nights, where attendees can participate in educational workshops with past topics that have included: professional development, social issues within the community, cultural awareness, and youth organizations’ best practices. The conference also includes a culture show, showcasing talent from across the country and concludes with a gala to end the festivities.
A unique component to the UNAVSA conference is the Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP) that raises funds and awareness to help a non-profit organization to accomplish its mission. This year’s beneficiary is the Children of Vietnam, which creates a brighter future for children with disabilities through the Hope System of Care for Children with Disabilities.
For more information about the program, this year’s beneficiary, or to become familiarized with the CPP Campaign team, visit the “Resources” portion on the CPP website: http://cpp.unavsa.org.
The conference will be held at the beautiful University Hotel Minneapolis located in the heart of the University of Minnesota campus. The central location of this hotel makes travel and sightseeing convenient. Attendees will be able to explore the area and enjoy the many attractions of this wonderful city.
UNAVSA-9 will be the product of a partnership between the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations, Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of the Midwest, and the Vietnamese Student Association of Minnesota at the University of Minnesota.
Please join UNAVSA and countless leaders, youths, and young professionals from across the nation for a weekend of leadership building, networking, inspiring workshops, motivating speakers, exciting entertainment, and lifelong memories.
