MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 11, 2016) — The Minnesota Buddhist Vihara is inviting the public to participate in a Uposatha Medition Retreat.
parents to bring their children ages 8 and older to practice a day of mindfulness meditation and experience spirituality. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the Minnesota Buddhist Vihara, at 3401 N 4th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55412-2716.
Minnesota Buddhist Vihara would like to invite everyone who wish to observe uposatha precepts and practice mindfulness meditation on a weekend day to experience inner peace and happiness.
On Full moon day, lay practitioners have the opportunity to observe the special eight precepts and to acquire merits by performing Dana (Generosity), Sila (Morality) and Bhavana (Meditation). In addition, they also get an opportunity to listen a dhamma talk and to participate in the Discussion which provides an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of the Buddhist teachings. Other lay practitioners who are not taking the eight precepts are also invited to come to the Vihara and participate in the service.

8:00am – Sila Observance and Metta Meditation
9:00am – Anapanasati Meditation
10:00am – Dhamma Talk
10:45am – Buddha Puja (Offerings to the Buddha)
11:00am – Dana (Lunch)
12:00pm – Blessings / Walking Meditation
1:00pm – Dhamma Discussion
2:30pm – Break
2:45pm – Meditation
3:45pm – Chanting / Sharing merits
4:00pm – Conclusion
