Witiyala Seewalie Thera, President and Abbot of the Minnesota Buddhist Vihara at 3401 N 4th Street, Minneapolis, announced this week that Vinura Withanawasam, a Dhamma school student who is also a Boy Scout, has embarked on a project to satisfy both his spiritual and civic passions.
To accomplish his Eagle Scout Rank, the highest rank in the Boys Scouts, Vinura must complete a community service project. He came up with the idea of building a walking meditation path along the perimeter of the Buddhist Vihara temple property, to complete the existing fence to enclose the temple building from all sides.
Vinura discussed his idea with Rev. Seewalie and the two drew up plans for a path that will be 210 feet long and 2 feet wide, requiring about 2000 pavers. The estimated cost is $3,000, which he hopes to raise by the time he would like to begin work on the path this April and complete it sometime this summer.
Monitory donations will be greatly appreciated and will help make this project a reality. Thank you in advance for your donations. Please make the checks payable to Vinura’s Eagle Scout Project, and send to 6760 Ranier Lane N, Maple Grove, MN 55311.
