WASHINGTON — The Sikh Coalition, together with the national civil rights community, will unveil a mobile application that allows users to report instances of airport profiling in real time during a launch event at the offices of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights in Washington, DC on April 30.

The launch event will also be live-streamed at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sikhcoalition.

The application creates a novel marriage between technology and civil rights activism. It is the first and only such application of its kind, allowing users in communities such as the Sikh, Muslim, Latino, or Black communities to document their experience at the airport.

There will be a live demonstration of the application with Amardeep Singh, co-founder and Program Director, The Sikh Coalition; Prabhjit Singh, victim of racial and religious profiling; Wade Henderson, President and CEO, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights; Farhana Khera, Executive Director, Muslim Advocates; and Priya Murthy, Policy Director, South Asian Americans Leading Together.
