which includes a poignant tribute to recent Nobel Peace Prize winner,Malala Yousufzai. Having experienced unjust conditions in Pakistan as a child, Izzy was driven to make a statement about today’s Pakistani conflicts by penning her first single, “Malala.” The song, and accompanying video, is in honor and praise of the young woman who was shot by the Taliban for wanting an education and survived. “That story really spoke to me. Malala was two years younger than me,” Izzy says. Not only does the song honor Malala’s boldness, it also inspires listeners to make the most of the opportunities available to them. Izzy recently wrapped up her run on the 2014 High School Nation Tour with Drake Bell (Nickelodeon’s star of Drake & Josh), RCA Records recording artist Jacob Latimore and other talented artists, visiting select high schools nationwide. She is now back in California and writing new music.
This past March, Izzy debuted her self-titled EP, which combines dance-in-your-room bubblegum pop with a sweet spoonful of modern country. It’s a rare feat for a pop artist to come along with substance and talent, but an artist as inspiring and uplifting as Izzy Malik doesn’t come around very often. Izzy moved to America from Taliban-dominated Pakistan at the age of three, and was determined from a young age to channel her profound story, and bring positive messaging, euphoric pop hooks, and a dazzling performance style to touch the world. Izzy has been favorably compared to such artists as Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Ariana Grande. Though she’s a young artist and inspired by these pop icons, Izzy Malik has her own distinct musicality and unique vibe that is sure to pave her own way.
