ST. PAUL (Dec. 20, 2015) — The Hmong Studies Journal Volume 16 along with the new Hmong Studies Newsletter have been published.
“I would like to dedicate this issue to Dr. Nicholas Tapp,” said Mark Pfeifer, Ph.D., director of programs and development, and librarian at Hmong Cultural Center in St. Paul, Minn. “We lost Dr. Tapp a few months ago. Dr. Tapp contributed greatly to the journal as an editorial board member for several years.”
Tapp was a cultural anthropologist who was considered a foremost authority on Hmong culture in Laos, China, and the Diaspora around the world.
East China Normal University announced that Tapp, 63, who was the distinguished professor and director of the Research Institute of Anthropology, East China Normal University, passed away at Shanghai Huashan Hospital from illness on Oct. 10, 2015.
