ST. PAUL (Aug. 3, 2013 — The Hmong American Education Fund held its first scholarship awards banquet at the Paul Wellstone Center in St Paul on Aug. 3.
The Hmong American Education Fund was established on March 2, 2011 by Chue T. Vang. It was created as a remembrance for his younger brother to help support the future Hmong students in higher education. Chue T. Vang with the help of donors and sponsors was able to fund eight college scholarships for Hmong students for this 2013 school year.
Nou Lee, the 2013 HAEF General Vang Pao Memorial recipient, from Merced, Calif., shared her personal life story at the scholarship banquet and thanked HAEF for helping to support her educational goal of attending the University of California Merced.
Neng Vue, the HEF Advisors of America scholarship recipient from St Paul, and Vong Vang the HAEF 2 scholarship recipient from St Paul, were also present to share their personal stories with the scholarship donors, sponsors and the public.
Although not all recipients were able to make it to the event many were able to listen and view pictures of these recipients powerful stories.
