May Shoua Moua, Saint Paul, was recently elected trustee to the Metropolitan State University Foundation.
Moua has worked at Ramsey County Corrections for two years as an evaluation and planning analyst. Previously she worked in human services at Hennepin County and in the nonprofit sector for the Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits.
Through personal experience, Moua understands the importance and impact of access to higher education for communities of color. As an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, she participated in the Ronald E. McNair program, which led her to pursue a master’s from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She is an active volunteer committed to civic involvement, most recently managing a campaign for the Minnesota House of Representatives race. She also serves on the Minnesota Asian/American Health Coalition board.
The Metropolitan State University Foundation generates private and public support for Metropolitan State University and assists the university in accomplishing its mission and maintaining its leadership role as an innovator in higher education. ο
