Leadership, Empowerment, and Advocacy Fellowship (LEAF)
The Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) is excited to announce our first-annual Leadership, Empowerment, and Advocacy Fellowship (LEAF) for experienced advocates! SEARAC has hosted our Leadership and Advocacy Training (LAT) every year since 1998 to train community members to be fierce and effective advocates. The LEAF training will build on our LAT program to bring experienced advocates to the next level.
The LEAF training will take place October 13 – 15, 2015 in Washington, DC. LEAF is a response to growing demand from LAT alumni and advocates who seek a higher level of engagement in advocacy and leadership development. It is also aimed at alumni who have taken on more advanced advocacy roles within their communities over time.
The training is intended for advocates who have some background knowledge and advocacy experience in education, health, or immigration policy. Participants can expect to engage in more in-depth conversations on these and related social justice issues facing Southeast Asian American communities, brainstorm durable solutions, create effective strategies, and develop richer partnerships with each other and with policy makers.

Although the training is tailored to Southeast Asian Americans, it is also open to individuals working to elevate the voices of Southeast Asian American communities.
SEARAC will cover the majority of travel and lodging expenses for accepted applicants living outside of the Washington, DC area, but participants may be responsible for a portion of their travel costs.
SEARAC is grateful for the long-term and continued support from State Farm and Southwest Airlines, who have contributed to the development of hundreds of leaders making a difference in their local communities across the US.
